Automatic Writing

Automatic writing. It was when I learned that the spirits are most active between 6pm and midnight. Or at least it seems true for mediumship like mine. Once again it was my aunt that taught me. My mother always seemed to want to be a part of the esoteric pursuits but lacked something that would cause anything to happen. My mother was so full of fear. Fear can be a blocker like that. 

So, one late evening, just after 6pm my aunt sat down at the table with me and we each curled our fingers around the same pencil, sat across from each other, and rested the pencil on a piece of paper laying in the dining room table. It was here that the spirits moved between us, and the pencil began to move. Like the way a Ouija board works, but free flowing to allow letters, words, and even pictures to be drawn. Though I was barely a teen at the time, in the years that followed, I would repeat this exercise with a few other people. Every time something would come across. Nothing after midnight. But always something before. 

Once, with a friend, a map of a body of water was drawn. And the spirit present revealed that she had been a witch and had been drowned in a lake. The map was the location of her death. At the time I was too young to help the spirit across to the other side, but I still have the image of the map in my mind to this day.

Wondering about helping her across to the other side these decades later. Maybe another seance...one before a midnight.
