The Rhythms of Life. And the Magick of Numbers.

The rhythms of life. And the magick of numbers. Saint Augustine wrote, "The good Christian should beware of mathematicians, and all those who make empty prophecies. The danger already exists that the mathematicians have made a covenant with the devil to darken the spirit and to confine man in the bonds of Hell". ( De Genesi ad Litteram , Book II, xviii, 37 Sir Isaac Newton, the inventor of calculus, but also an avid alchemist. The latter of which hidden by the turning of the head of science. Of course numbers were, and still are, a form of magick. They can represent things in the physical world, be manipulated symbolically and the serve to manifest tremendous and significant change. Reveal hidden correspondences. Maybe science is just a slice of the old magic trying to claim its own significance by distancing itself from the rest. The rhythms of life represented symbolically by numbers to be shuffled and laid out for a snapshot of synchronicity. To see the flow of the...

Mystic Soul Journeys

Journeys through the realms of the spirit have been characterized as shamanic journeys, astral travel, traveling inward, mesmerism, and a variety of other terms. One of my first formal introductions of cultural descriptions was years ago in a book called The Way of the Shaman by Michael Harner. Mr. Harner was an anthropologist that suggested that shaman healers the world over traveled into the spirit world to affect change within that would affect reality in the physical realm. He went on to say that they all made these travels in congruent ways using portals and spirit guides. When I used his method of induction my journey began instantly and I was able to easily make the transition. It was not long before I no longer needed the drum beat. Never stopped to wonder why it was so easy from the start. A question I have only recently asked myself. That was over 25 years ago. After I have learned a variety ways to travel these realms, I have learned to guid...

Automatic Writing

Automatic writing. It was when I learned that the spirits are most active between 6pm and midnight. Or at least it seems true for mediumship like mine. Once again it was my aunt that taught me. My mother always seemed to want to be a part of the esoteric pursuits but lacked something that would cause anything to happen. My mother was so full of fear. Fear can be a blocker like that.  So, one late evening, just after 6pm my aunt sat down at the table with me and we each curled our fingers around the same pencil, sat across from each other, and rested the pencil on a piece of paper laying in the dining room table. It was here that the spirits moved between us, and the pencil began to move. Like the way a Ouija board works, but free flowing to allow letters, words, and even pictures to be drawn. Though I was barely a teen at the time, in the years that followed, I would repeat this exercise with a few other people. Every time something would come across. Nothing after midnight. But al...

Physical Mediumship

A Physical Medium. Historically this seemed to refer to people who were able to manipulate energies around them and produce spirit manifestations like rapping, movement of objects, apports, or levitation of a table. And a medium being defined as a person who is a kind of conduit or connection between the spirit work and the physical world. So, this former definition is why I did not realize that I am a physical medium until quite recently. The outdated definition seemed to be, in part, based on some of the old con artists in the last Victorian era. My realization of what it can truly mean, and what it means for me, dawned on me a couple weeks ago when I was having a discussion with some friends about the séance that I conducted over the Halloween weekend at an old historic building in our downtown area. I made mention of the fact that, "whenever our group has any kind of séance or paranormal event something ALWAYS happens". Later thinking about it, I realized that many times ...

Reflecting on the beginning

Starting to reflect back on when my connection to the esoteric began, I decided to start this blog to assist me in arranging my narrative into something with some semblance of coherency by creating a arrangement of how my inner development progressed. Or at least unbox some of it in one place to look over. While giving a tarot reading yesterday someone asked me "How do you know?". They seemed to be asking how does one know when they have some ability that connects with the hidden side of the tapestry of reality. All I could think to say was, "I have read cards since I was a kid", The truth is that I never really thought about it. Growing up I learned to use a pendulum, Ouija, and automatic writing from my aunt. Where did she learn? I don't know. She passed away earlier this year from COVID and I never asked. Never thought to ask until now. That is how life is at times. She was living in one of my favorite childhood homes. The former house of my grandparents. Th...
